Writers Unlimited International Literature Festival 2026
The Writers Unlimited International Literature Festival, held annually in The Hague, Netherlands, is an acclaimed global literary event celebrating the power of storytelling, ideas, and poetry. In 2026, the 31st edition of the festival is scheduled from January 22 to 25, 2026. It promises to bring together around ninety writers, poets, performers, thinkers, and emerging talents from across the world for a rich program of talks, interviews, readings, and performances.
Spanning multiple venues across The Hague, including the iconic Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag, this four-day festival celebrates diversity in literature and the arts. The program features the distinctive “Friday Night Unlimited” and “Saturday Night Unlimited”—grand festival nights involving multiple stages showcasing a rotating mix of literary recitations, film screenings, and artistic performances. Interested attendees are given the freedom to explore a variety of thematic talks and creative sessions that span across literary and contemporary societal issues.
The festival’s mission moves beyond the written word to engage audiences in stimulating cultural dialogue, reflecting on topics from politics to science, and providing a welcoming stage for new voices as well as established international literary figures. The Festival also partners with libraries, schools, and universities in The Hague, strengthening literary engagement across all ages and fostering community involvement.
Tickets for the main experimental festival nights will be available from December 2025, with generous discounts for young people and local pass holders. In addition to the main festival events, there are year-round activities including podcasts, conversations, and smaller Writers Series conversations which keep the festival’s energy active outside the main event.
